A comprehensible and delightful story that delivers a powerful message that rings true for each and everyone of us....that we are created and perfectly designed to serve a purpose in this world. We can all connect to Sam and her feelings of doubt, uncertainty, fear, and sadness as we strive to find a sense of acceptance and belonging in our world. Exquisite imagery and an inspiring story for all ages. My boys and I loved it and it ignited some playful and engaging discussions about our faith, personalities/character, strengths/weaknesses, accepting others uniqueness, and how we can use our own natural gifts to make a positive and impactful contribution in our circle of friends and communities. It will be a book we will read over and over and a wholesome gift to give to new or expecting mamas and/or teachers for their classrooms!!
I've read this book to my 7 year old daughter tonight and I was amazed to see the impact it made on her already. The questions at the end of the book lead us to a conversation that we never had before. My daughter is as "puzzled" about herself as one can be, yet after reading and discussing, I felt as if a wave of peace was rolling over her, and for the first time I felt empowered to help her to "start looking to becoming" who she is, who God made her to be. Beautiful art! Transforming... She rarely thanks us for doing things for her. For some reason we did not manage to develop that habit in her yet. But after reading and discussing this book, she cuddled up to me and whispered into my ear "Thank you for this book, mommy!"
